My Own Place, Inc. is committed to promoting independent living for our clients, believing everyone deserves freedom, dignity, and autonomy. We provide personalized care plans, resources, and support tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals.

Our skilled team understands the challenges of disabilities and life circumstances that can limit independence. We offer education, advocacy, and services such as financial assistance, housing options, employment resources, and healthcare advice to help clients live independently.

We also provide transportation services for medical appointments, with staff accompaniment when needed. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our Current Goals

Although donations of any sort are always appreciated, our most important goals include means of transportation or land. Having a working vehicle would allow us to pick up more donations and get them to where they need to go, along with transportation and moving services for our family here at My Own Place.  Additionally, land can be used to build structures like additional homes for residents, or space which can then be used as donation drop-off points. 

Land or Real Estate
There are many reasons why land is important to charities like ours. Land provides a place for people to gather and share their experiences. It also gives My Own Place along with other charities a way to connect with the community and offer services that help even MORE people in need. Additionally, land can provide an income for My Own Place, which is essential to its operations, and can also be used to promote the charity’s cause and raise awareness about its work.

All of these reasons underscore why vehicles & land are such important assets for My Own Place. With your gracious donations to our family, we will be able to provide vital services to the community furthermore and make a difference in the lives of those we serve. DC Coalition of Disability Service Providers gather providers who serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in D.C.   They strive to coordinate best practices, services and share vision within the community.  Executive Director, Ian Paregol is the Executive Director of the Coalition. We are a member in good standing of the Coalition.  My Own Place Inc. CEO, Kim Scott, is active on their Board of Directors and many District task forces.
